Hump-day Hotties: Literary Lover #3

Well, it's the last hump-day in May, so that means we'll be saying goodbye to the hot guys reading. But don't worry, because there will be plenty more eye candy next month. Wondering what theme I'll be going with? Hmmm, well I suppose I could tell you.

And to think I almost said that without smiling. I guess those of you who know me already saw that coming though. Bwahahaaaa.

Now, time to distract you from my evilness with a lovely hot man. Just look at the muscles on him. Wonder what he's doing on the balcony wearing skimpy underwear. Maybe he's just an exhibitionist and wants people to gawk at him from across the street. What a tease!

If I ever own a pool, this is what I want my pool guy to look like!

Hump-day Hotties: Literary Lover #2

Hope it's been a good week for you all. I bet you're wishing it was the weekend again already... I know I am. But fear not, because there's another delicious hunk of a man waiting below to perk you up and get you through to Friday evening. And in keeping with this month's theme, he is, of course, reading a book.

I couldn't resist this one, though I know it's already made its way around the internet, and it's easy to see why. Jensen Ackles and a book... two of my favourite things. I think the only thing better would be if I could just lie down next to him while he reads the book out loud. *sighs*

I feel the urge to watch some Supernatural coming on. Shame I can't get the latest season on DVD yet as I love a good paranormal story. I used to be a Sam fanboy, but as the series progressed I found myself leaning more toward Dean. So, who's your favourite?

Update on Daeva Book 3

I have an announcement for you all. There's some good news and some bad news, unfortunately. Originally I had scheduled to get Daeva 3 out for October when we all go to GRL, but I've had a change in plans and I just wanted to communicate to this to you guys.

To cut a long story short, I'm in a bit of a slump with the story right now. I could force myself to write more of it, but I think the best thing I could do at this point in time is to simply move onto something else while I find some inspiration for where I want the story to go. I feel like if I continue with it now it's not going to be as good as it could be, you know? And I'm not the type of person to just half-arse something and put it out there when it doesn't feel right. I'm sure you'll all understand, but there is some good news.

As mentioned, I'm going to be focusing my efforts elsewhere in the meantime, in the hopes of getting a shorter book out later this year. I found myself reading what I'd written so far for Slasherazzi, and I had this feeling that this was the book I should be working on. I can't really explain it, but I'm just going to go with it and see what happens. All I know is that for now, I'm writing and seem to be out of my creative slump. That can only be a good thing.

I've got a couple of options lined up for what I want to do with Slasherazzi once I've got the book written. There are a couple of publishers I'd like to query with it, though I wonder if the scenes from the killer's POV are perhaps a little graphic for a publisher to want to take it on. Particularly one of the later ones. But hey, I can always give it a try. Who knows? It may not be as bad as I'm imagining it to be.

So, that's all I really wanted to say for now. I'm excited to be writing again at a decent pace, and hopefully I'll be working on Daeva 3 again before too long. 'No Angel' edits should be arriving within the next couple of months, and the scheduled release date for that is before GRL, so it's gonna be a busy time. Watch out for more news on that closer to October.

Hump-day Hotties: Literary Lovers #1

Well, here we are again... Wednesday, aka hump-day. Time to introduce my newest blog feature, Hump-day Hotties! The title should be pretty self-explanatory, but here's the rundown. Every Wednesday at 00:00 GMT I'll be posting a mouth-watering pic to get your saliva, and other creative juices, flowing. We all need a bit of a pick-me-up by the middle of the week, and I sure wouldn't mind letting these guys pick me up, if you catch my drift ;)

But also, each month I'm going to be running a specific theme. For May, I've decided to go with Literary Lovers! I think we can all agree we love hot guys, right? And books, too. Combining the two... Well, let's see what happens.

So without further ado, meet Literary Lover #1. Just look at those lovely firm biceps and shoulders. Now, if we could just change the angle a little so we can see what else bulges too.

May Madness

Finally, it looks like summer is here for the UK. No more scarves and woolen hats... unless, of course, your name is Patti and you live in Michigan. In which case, enjoy your snow *sticks tongue out*

A lot has been going on, and this month in particular is a very busy one for me. And with the way things are going, it looks like the rest of the year is going to be one hectic dash for the finish line. This month I've got a possible promotion at work, if I can just get past the interview and presentation, which I've been working on a lot this weekend. July will see me going off to Manchester for a fun-filled weekend of debauchery, aka the UK GLBTQ Fiction Meet. October I'll be jetting off across the ocean for GayRomLit in Atlanta. Can't wait to see everyone again.

And while all this is going on, I have my book 'No Angel', which is currently contracted with Dreamspinner Press due out later this year. I've recently received a few forms to fill out with them about the blurb and cover art. I can't wait to see what they come up with for the cover, and I expect edits will start in a couple of months. Plus, I really need to finish Daeva 3: Return of Darkness before October, otherwise I may find myself under fire from an angry mob. *laughs nervously* I'm working on it. Honest!

Alexander Skarsgård
My favourite of Sookie's love interests. Mmmm, Eric.
Just to top things off, as if I didn't give myself enough work to finish this year, I've started working on
an entirely new project that I'm quite excited about. It's a series of gay paranormal romance novels, similar to the Sookie Stackhouse, or Anita Blake books in that the main character will have a few love interests over the course of the series before finally getting his happy ever after with one of them. Granted, I have no delusions about them ever being as big as Harris and Hamilton, but I can dream. Aim high, and all that. This series demands a lot of world-building, from the supernatural races that inhabit the earth, to the magic systems, major world events, and even my main character's unusual diet. So I've been adding bit-by-bit to my research and creation of this world, and hope to have the world-building done by the time I'm finished up on my current projects. For now, watch this space for more information.

Also, I've been very busy working on my own personal goals, not just on my day job and my writing. Those of you who have me added on Facebook will probably be aware that I've been very active lately, doing my exercise on a regular basis. My goal is to get myself in shape by the time GRL comes round.

I've been spending a fair bit of time on the weights, trying to build up a bit of definition, especially in my stomach. But mostly, I've been working on my running and recently managed to complete a full 10k run in 62minutes and 12seconds. In just two weeks I've managed to knock that time down to 54minutes and 16seconds. My aim is to eventually get this time under 45minutes, which isn't going to be easy. Even at my current pace there are moments toward the end of the run when I feel like I can't go on, like the muscles in my legs are too heavy, and the end is so very far away. But I keep on going, focusing on one breath at a time, and before long I'm crossing the finish line.

Jensen Ackles
Not sure what's more motivating... the song, or Jensen.
I think, maybe if I take this attitude with my writing, then the whole thing might not seem so daunting. Sure, I may only write one page tonight because I'm busy making sure everything is prepared for my interview, but it's still on page. Tomorrow I can do another page, and then another. It might not be a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it's still one step closer to the goal.

So, wish me luck. And I hope you all manage to reach your own goals as well.
